The internet is not the same as it used to be. Most internet networks are private, there are no items for sale, there is no sign up forms, a lot of times there is not even an about page or any interesting data on the webpage.
Websites can be like a door, without a key or an invite.
This has added a lot of confusion to people, interested in learning more about the internet. A lot of it is streaming content, or school websites. A social media account with friends that include grandparents, parents, siblings, co-workers, schoolmates, and friends that all live within a mile or two from home can be confusing. I mean, a notification that someone is stopping by in a few minutes to hang out and visit takes less than 30 seconds.
Libraries have tried to add to the number of internet activities that are available, and a lot of them have really nice sites.
There are also government websites that let people do things without having to drive to the government building, even photos can be uploaded and cropped for things like ID nowadays.
Searching on the internet can be dangerous, it can damage a computer if a website is clicked on that isn't very nice. There are not always people around to ask the person that owns the website to please clean it up. A lot of anti-virus companies aren't around anymore too. They are available for people that had antivirus before, but most computers dont have antivirus and its hard to find a place that sells it.
Search engines work good for things that you know you are looking for, like your school website, the breakfast place on the way to work, or the street your friend lives on that is only a few blocks away and seems to disappear from time to time.
Browsing works best, the computer works better when websites that don't have any problems are browsed and interacted with. This allows the computer to be turned off at night, or when not in use and not have any problems.
The video platform is not much different, while searching for known content can be useful, searching for random keywords may not be the best idea. Browsing from profile to profile using related concepts or searching for known keywords is the safest way to have fun on the platform.
Try keeping a notebook of cool usernames and go directly to their video profile, then browse the network to see what kind of content you find using the related videos or video suggestions after a show.
