Background Information for Short Story October 2026

Jordan and Salish have talked about their age recently and there is a video on her profile "Guess who my mom is?"

Jordan's Birthday took place 1-2 months before Salish turned 16.

Recently, Lauren revealed her height and age.

Lauren is currently about 2 inches taller than Salish.

Lauren revealed her age while Salish was already 16.

Here Grandparents were also recently featured on the show.

There are no biostatistics for her grandparents, she just wanted to introduce them.

Background Information

This puts Salish's parents age at approximately 39 and 52 when they had Salish which is a more recent appropriate age for having children. This is due to humans living past 60 to 75 in the U.S., overpopulation, and financial stability markers that often aren't achieved until past 30. The Matter's represent the more recent age group and her brother Hudson is a little bit older.

In the general population however, it is generally not economically feasible to have children before age 30. This is more true in liberal states and in states with high incomes, time schedules make it physically impossible to consider children before age 30.

This makes Salish ahead of her time for what to expect when encountering children and young adults and inquiring about their parents or family. At the same time, 16 is once again becoming the age of adulthood, including for driving, flying alone, and drinking alcohol in moderation. With 12 to 15 being suggested as the appropriate age to obtain W2 paystubs through a part-time job, instead of chores.

At the same time, adults reaching adulthood since the year 2000 are normally not financially independent until age 40 to 50 and many do not surpass adolescent levels of maturity until their 60s.
